Talk Title
Abstract
Email is a pain to get right. It isn't just that there are all kinds of weird standards, multiple layers of encoding, or secret tricks for getting past spam traps. It's also that most of Perl's libraries for dealing with email have assumed that everybody knows what he's doing. Unfortunately, most of these tools require the user to do so much that there's no hope of knowing what you're doing. To make things worse, many libraries haven't made it easy to test email, either. If you admit that your code is going to need a lot of testing... you may well be out of luck.
Ricardo Signes generates, munges, and sends a lot of email, and he hardly ever knows what he's doing. In this talk, he will explain the libraries he has developed to deal with his problem so that you, too, can look like you know what you're doing, even when you haven't got a clue.
